Technical Skills Development

The following are list of accomplished and on-going projects program of Arab Land Group technical skills development for the local Sons of Iraq, released detainees and other military-aged males in a vocational training program and on-the-job training in order to establish a trained general service group for the towns of Iraq.

 

TECHNICAL SKILLS DEVELOPMENT IN CARPENTRY, ELECTRIC, MASONRY, METAL WORK/WELDING AND PLUMBING

The purpose of the project is to prepare 50 ISWs, organized as five groups of 10 students to learn technical skills in carpentry, electric, masonry, metal work/welding and plumbing. To provide instruction in relevant theory, equipment use, terminology, and case studies in their discipline and to provided ample opportunities to apply their learning in actual work details under the supervision of experienced workers. The aim of the program is to give students the skills they need to join the workforce and begin productive careers in rebuilding their country.

The ALGroup employ for 6 months, 73 personnel (50 ISWs and 23 contract personnel) in order to perform the following tasks.

TECHNICAL JOB TRAINING IN OPERATING TRUCKS,
MUNICIPAL VEHICLES, AND OTHER EQUIPMENT IN HURRIYA

The project is to train 192 Iraqi Student Workers (ISWs) arranged as 4 teams of 12 students (48 total) every three months. There will be four sequential training periods during /a>the year. The program will train ISWs to be proficient either as commercial drivers or as sewer/water engineers. Besides understanding their selected discipline, students will also learn how to operate a selected vehicle needed in their profession, perform routine repairs on their vehicles, and handle routine office paperwork related to their profession.

The ALGroup employs 217 total personnel on this project, 192 ISWs who will each be employed for three months and 25 contract employees, who will work a full year.

The project is to train 192 Iraqi Student Workers (ISWs) arranged as 4 teams of 12 students (48 total) every three months. There will be four sequential training periods during the year. The program will train ISWs to be proficient either as commercial drivers or as sewer/water engineers. Besides understanding their selected discipline, students will also learn how to operate a selected vehicle needed in their profession, perform routine repairs on their vehicles, and handle routine office paperwork related to their profession.

The ALGroup employs 217 total personnel on this project, 192 ISWs who will each be employed for three months and 25 contract employees, who will work a full year.

MICRO POWER GENERATION, ELECTRICAL & SOLAR ENERGY GENERATION & MAINTENANCE IN AL-DURA

This project will train 30 Iraqi Student Workers (ISWs) to understand micro power generation, electrical and solar energy generation and turbine maintenance. The project will use two masters and 4 experienced journeyman as assistants to train the students in turbine repair disciplines.

SAB-AL BOR ASPHALTING AND ROAD PAVING
CIVIL SERVICE CORPS

This project will train 30 Iraqi Student Workers (ISWs) to understand micro power generation, electrical and solar energy generation and turbine maintenance. The project will use two masters and 4 experienced journeyman as assistants to train the students in turbine repair disciplines.

NASR WA SALAM ASPHALTING AND ROAD PAVING
CIVIL SERVICE CORPS NASR WA SALAM NAHIA

This project will train 48 Iraqi Student Workers (ISWs) to pave and repair roads using Oedipus Road starting at 38S MB 0988 8624 to 38S MB 1157 8519. All ISWs will be given instruction on sanitizing roadways, filling holes, mixing concrete and forming it, preparing road surfaces for coatings, resurfacing the roadway, and adhering to quality standards on projects. They will also be trained to calculate material quantities and understand the trade terminology and safety issues. All will work under the supervision of an experienced journeymen and a master. The aims of the proposed program are to give students the skills they need to join the workforce and to begin their productive careers in improving the roadways of their country.

The ALGroup employ 70 personnel (48 ISWs and 22 contract personnel) for six months, in order to perform the following tasks on 7 kilometers of designated roadway.

Canals will include primary, secondary, and tertiary irrigation canals as well as drainage canals and pipes. All ISWs will be taught the fundamentals of excavation operations, irrigation well drilling, and water distribution maintenance using classroom training and on-the-job training and equipment familiarization.

This project’s repair will be a crew comprised of 10 ISW apprentices, one experienced journeyman, and one master who also oversees two other crews. There will be 3 crews, 30 apprentices, 3 journeymen, and 1 master.

ELECTRICAL LINEMAN REFURBISHMENT TEAM
(ELRT) APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM

This project will prepare 20 SOIs, organized as five groups of 4 students each with a designated MoE Master Lineman Technician composing each crew. All SOIs will be given instruction relative to becoming linemen for the MoE; learning about relevant equipment, tools, terminology, and standards. Students will also be provided ample opportunities to apply their learning in actual work details under the supervision of an experienced worker.
